Curriculum of the Japanese School of Brussels

The school offers the Japanese national curriculum for both primary and lower secondary education, identical to what is taught in Japan. A unique school in Belgium

Founded in 1979, the Japanese School of Brussels remains the only Japanese international school in Belgium. It is a medium-sized school with two floors and a maximum capacity of 500 students. The school responds to a steady demand from Japanese families who relocate to Belgium for professional reasons and for a limited period of time (typically a few years).

More specifically, major Japanese companies with branches in Brussels send some of their Japanese employees to work in Belgium on temporary assignments. For this reason, it is important for their children to continue receiving Japanese education to maintain their academic level during their time abroad.
Since 2000, the school has been funded jointly by Japanese companies based in Brussels and by the Ministry of Education of Japan (Monbusho).
