Brussels is home to one school offering the official Japanese education system, the only one in Belgium. It exclusively serves Japanese expat families who want to ensure full academic continuity with Japan’s national curriculum during their time abroad.

Founded in 1979, the Japanese School of Brussels is the only international school in Belgium offering exclusively the Japanese school system. Located in the Auderghem district of Brussels, it welcomes students aged 4 to 16, primarily from expatriate Japanese families. The school strictly follows the Japanese academic calendar, starting in April and ending in March.

All teaching is conducted in Japanese to ensure a smooth reintegration into the Japanese education system after families return to Japan. The school thus provides expatriate Japanese families with vital educational continuity for their children.
