International School in Brussels (Waterloo)
European School of Brussels Argenteuil
The European School of Brussels-Argenteuil (EEBA) welcomes around 400 students aged 3 to 18 on a green and spacious 14-hectare campus just outside Brussels. As an accredited and international European School, it follows the official European Schools curriculum and offers three language sections: French, English and Swedish.
EEBA prepares its students for two globally recognised diplomas: the European Baccalaureate (EB) and the International Baccalaureate (IB). In partnership with Lycée Molière, the school provides a demanding multicultural environment built on the joy of learning, multilingualism and strong values: respect, integrity, responsibility and knowledge.
A unique place to grow, learn and thrive.

Nursery cylce
Ages 3 to 5
EEBA’s Early Years cycle welcomes children aged 3 to 5 in a multilingual environment inspired by Nordic and Montessori pedagogies.
The Casa Daisy, Casa Lys and Bluebells classes offer a bilingual setting (English/French or Swedish/Norwegian) fully aligned with the European Early Education Curriculum.
Learning is organised around four core areas:
- Me and my body
- Me as a person
- Me and others
- Me and the world
Children grow and learn within a 14-hectare park, exploring nature in all weather conditions while developing social, motor and emotional skills in a safe, stimulating and eco-responsible environment.
Primary cycle
Ages 6 to 10
The Primary cycle places strong emphasis on the mother tongue, mathematics and the first foreign language, while also integrating art, music, sport and world discovery.
Students take part in European Hours, special moments where pupils from different language sections learn and collaborate together.
Children develop autonomy, learn to ask relevant questions and build solid knowledge.
The multilingual environment, regular outdoor learning, daily Dutch lessons from Primary 3 onwards, and wellbeing initiatives such as the friendship supporters all enrich their experience.
The school also provides tailored SEN support to meet the specific needs of each student.
Secondary cycle
Ages 11 to 18
The Secondary cycle is divided into three sub-cycles:
- Observation Cycle: S1–S3
- Pre-orientation Cycle: S4–S5
- Orientation Cycle: S6–S7
Students follow a progressively multilingual pathway: classes in L1, then key subjects such as humanities and religion/ethics taught in L2.
In S4–S5, they choose between 4- or 6-period mathematics, language options, economics, sciences, ICT, music or arts.
This structure allows students to gradually broaden their academic choices to match their strengths and interests, while developing autonomy, study skills and strong critical thinking.
The campus provides a calm learning environment with science labs, a library and personalised SEN support.
This cycle actively prepares students for higher education in Belgium and internationally.
Two Baccalaureate Programmes
- European Baccalaureate (EB)
- International Baccalaureate (IB)

At the end of their secondary education, students choose between two globally recognised diplomas:
- The European Baccalaureate (EB) – taught primarily in L1, with History, Geography and Religion/Ethics in L2. The curriculum combines compulsory subjects, options and complementary courses, totalling between 31 and 35 periods per week.
- The International Baccalaureate (IB) – for students aged 16–19, structured around six subject groups and a core programme. It fosters balanced, rigorous and open-minded learners.
Both pathways provide excellent preparation for university studies in Belgium and abroad, supporting a demanding and well-rounded academic development.
Why choose the European School of Brussels-Argenteuil?
EEBA’s key strengths
Located within the Argenteuil estate, EEBA benefits from a historic château, modern facilities and a vast wooded park. This secure and green environment offers countless opportunities for outdoor learning, supported by an eco-responsible approach recognised by the EcoSchool label. It provides an ideal setting for students’ wellbeing, personal growth and overall development.
Extracurricular activities, meals, bus, travel
Outside school hours
EEBA’s extracurricular activities are open to all and take place after school from Monday to Friday, with extended hours through the Stay & Learn programme. A wide range of sports, arts, nature, coding, science and language workshops is offered for Early Years, Primary and Secondary students. Pupils can also join supervised study sessions, remediation classes or benefit from after-school care for the youngest.
The school restaurant provides fresh, healthy and balanced meals prepared on site every day. Students can choose between a hot buffet with a daily menu (including a vegetarian option) or a salad bar featuring local and seasonal ingredients. Soup and fresh fruit are available daily. Special dietary menus are offered for allergies, health conditions or religious requirements.
EEBA offers a school transport service for students living in Brussels, the Walloon Brabant and the areas surrounding the campus. Buses provide morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. This service is optional and billed separately from tuition fees, making access to the school easier for families in the region.
EEBA organises several school trips each year, depending on grade level: forest class in Primary 3, sea class in Primary 4 and ski class in Primary 5. Primary 1 and 2 students also enjoy a night on campus. Throughout the year, pupils take part in excursions to museums, farms, historical sites or science centres, strengthening cohesion, autonomy and cultural awareness.

Additional information
EEBA is an Accredited European School, meaning it follows the official European Schools curriculum while operating outside the legal, administrative and financial framework of traditional European Schools. It is part of the Belgian national network and offers the same multilingual and multicultural education leading to the European Baccalaureate, while remaining accessible to families who may not work for the EU institutions.
EEBA is also a non-profit organisation. The school is not subsidised: 100% of operating costs are covered by the tuition fees, which are set to reflect the actual cost of educating a student. Most of the school’s budget is dedicated to the teaching and pedagogical staff, who support students daily in their learning and development.
