Academic Programme at Lycée Français Jean Monnet
The school offers preschool, elementary, middle school and high school:
- Preschool: children aged 3 to 5
- Elementary school (5 years): children aged 6 to 10
- Middle (Collège) & High school (Lycée) : students aged 11 to 18
Preschool Programme
> Ages 3 to 6

In preschool, children attend bilingual classes in French and English or French and German. Each class is led by a team of two teachers, each speaking their native language. Dutch is also part of the curriculum.
In these early years, children develop their oral expression and begin to explore writing, numbers, and other areas of learning.
They build autonomy, creativity, and self-confidence while discovering the arts, sports, culture, and digital tools. Immersive language learning (English, German, or Dutch) is central to the programme. The school provides personalised support, child-friendly facilities (motor skills rooms, trilingual library, nap rooms), and after-school care every evening until 6 pm.
Elementary Programme
> Ages 6 to 11

In primary school, students acquire fundamental skills (reading, writing, mathematics) and explore science, history-geography, art, and culture through a variety of projects. Enhanced foreign language instruction (English, German, or Dutch) is offered, with pathways adapted to each student’s level or taught in dual-language classes.
Personalised support allows each child to progress at their own pace through regular co-teaching and specific educational activities. The school also offers CHAMThé artistic classes (choral singing, theatre, music), available from Year 2. Students benefit from modern facilities including a gymnasium, dojo, computer and science labs, multilingual library, and access to a wide range of extracurricular activities and after-school care until 6 pm.
Collège
> Ages 11 to 15

In collège, students prepare for the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB), the first official diploma in the French education system, which validates the knowledge and skills acquired up to Year 9. The curriculum is enriched with two mandatory foreign languages starting in Year 6, an optional third language from Year 8, interdisciplinary practical lessons (EPI) in Year 9, and an international British or German section accessible via entrance test.
Options such as theatre and classical languages (Latin or Ancient Greek) are also available. The school offers personalised support through tutoring, homework help, and French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classes. Students benefit from a demanding and individualised approach that encourages autonomy and prepares them effectively for high school and future exams such as the Baccalauréat.
Lycée
> Ages 15 to 18

In Lycée, students prepare for the general French Baccalauréat. In Year 10, they explore their interests and strengths before choosing three specialty subjects out of eleven in Year 11, and narrowing it down to two in Year 12. The curriculum also includes French literature in Year 11, philosophy and the Grand Oral exam in Year 12.
Several language pathways enrich the curriculum: classical section, European section (English or German), international section (British or German) leading to the French International Baccalaureate (BFI), or Bachibac bilingual section (French-Spanish). Students can also begin a third foreign language as early as Year 10. Thanks to these diverse options and personalised support, students develop a strong academic and cultural profile, effectively preparing them for higher education in France or abroad.
Extracurricular activities
A wide range of sports, arts, culture, and creative activities are offered:
- Sports: badminton, football, basketball, climbing, ultimate frisbee, tennis, handball, step, dance, gymnastics, biathlon…
