BJAB Expands Its Senior School and Pursues the IB Diploma Programme

The British Junior Academy of Brussels (BJAB) has announced two important developments for its secondary education programme. From September 2026, the school will open Year 12 as part of the continued expansion of its Senior School and is now officially an IB Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

The introduction of Year 12 marks the next stage in BJAB’s growth and provides students with a seamless pathway from Early Years through to the final years of secondary education. The school’s first graduating class is expected in 2028.

Students at BJAB benefit from small class sizes, personalised support and teaching delivered by experienced UK-qualified educators. The Senior School combines project-based learning in the earlier years with the internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSE programme in Years 10 and 11.

As an IB Candidate School, BJAB is pursuing authorisation to become an IB World School and offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in the future. This development reflects the school’s commitment to providing internationally recognised academic pathways for students preparing for university and beyond.

Beyond academics, BJAB offers a rich co-curricular programme including sports, music, drama, leadership opportunities, engineering, debate, journalism and community service initiatives.

With the launch of Year 12 and its ambition to become an IB World School, BJAB continues to strengthen its position as one of Brussels’ most dynamic British international schools.
