ISB celebrates another year of outstanding academic results with the Class of 2026

The International School of Brussels (ISB) has announced another year of exceptional academic results, with the Class of 2026 once again demonstrating that academic excellence and an inclusive educational philosophy can successfully go hand in hand.

This year, all 149 graduates earned the US-accredited High School Diploma, while around 70% of the graduating class chose to pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). By offering multiple personalised learning pathways, ISB continues to provide students with the flexibility to pursue ambitious academic goals while developing their individual strengths, interests and future aspirations.

Among the 105 IB Diploma candidates, students achieved an impressive 97% pass rate, with an average score of 35.4, once again well above the global average. For the fourth consecutive year, an ISB student achieved the maximum possible score of 45 points, while 17 students scored 40 points or more and 67% of candidates obtained more than 34 points. Overall, 102 students successfully earned the IB Diploma. The school’s international outlook was also reflected in this year’s results, with 45% of IB Diploma candidates receiving a Bilingual Diploma, almost twice the global proportion awarded each year. Unlike many selective schools, ISB follows an inclusive approach by making the IB Diploma Programme accessible to more than 70% of eligible students. The Class of 2026 once again demonstrates that broad access to challenging academic programmes can go hand in hand with exceptional outcomes.

ISB students also achieved excellent results in the Advanced Placement (AP) programme. Across Grades 9 to 12, 125 students completed 229 AP examinations in 21 different subjects, achieving an average score of 3.81. Overall, 92% of examinations received a score of 3 or higher, 68% achieved a score of 4 or above, and 33% earned the highest possible score of 5. Offered through the College Board, the AP programme provides internationally recognised qualifications that are highly valued by universities around the world.

Results for the BTEC pathways will be published later in August and will be added to ISB’s academic results once they become available.

For many years, ISB has developed an educational model based on the belief that students thrive when they are offered personalised pathways rather than a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Alongside the US High School Diploma, students can choose from internationally recognised programmes including the IB Diploma Programme, individual IB Courses, Advanced Placement (AP) courses and BTEC qualifications. The Class of 2026 once again challenges the idea that schools must choose between being inclusive and achieving outstanding academic results. By combining high expectations with personalised learning and broad access to rigorous academic programmes, ISB continues to demonstrate that inclusion and excellence are complementary strengths, preparing students for success at leading universities and in an increasingly interconnected world.
