ISF Waterloo is a triply accredited international schoolCIS, BSO and COBIS – located on the border of Rhode-Saint-Genese and Waterloo, near Brussels. It welcomes 250 students from 60 nationalities, from 6 weeks to 18 years old, in classes of maximum 18 pupils.
Its daycare, designed on the basis of scientific research into infant brain development, is staffed by trilingual EN/FR/NL caregivers. At primary level, the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) is combined with the UK literacy and numeracy curriculum; at secondary level, Cambridge IGCSEs and A Levels prepare students for universities worldwide. ISF shares the same programmes and accreditations with its second campus in Tervuren.

As the International School of Flanders is one school with two campuses (ISF Waterloo and ISF Tervuren), both follow the same academic and enrichment programmes and are both fully accredited by CIS (Council of International Schools), BSO (British Overseas School) and COBIS (Council of British International Schools).

The ISF Daycare facility accommodates up to 15 children aged six weeks old. The internal layout, decorations, and equipment are based on scientific research into how babies’ visual stimuli condition the development of their brains, and our designs optimise that development.
The professional staff of the daycare speaks at minimum English, French and Dutch, so the children are exposed to all languages throughout the day.
ISF International Daycare is supervised by Kind & Gezin (Flanders’ Child & Family Agency).

The ISF Waterloo Pre-School sets an excellent foundation for a lifetime of learning, catering for children between 2 ½ – 4 years of age. The children follow a two-year program, covering six different IPC Units.
The Pre-School is situated in a spacious self-contained villa, comprising two classroom areas, a lunchroomkitchenrest area and age-appropriate toilets.
There are two self-contained play areas at the front and the back of the villa and the Early Years Playground with sandpits, climbing frames and toys, which the children use during their supervised morning break. Pre-School follows the International Primary Curriculum for Early Years. This is an internationally oriented program based on thematic units.

In Primary, ISF Waterloo focuses on a wide variety of activities which are integrated into all learning tasks.
As the children develop through each stage, their work becomes more structured, without losing the fun element of learning. Children are encouraged to develop at their own pace and small class sizes ensure individual attention and teacher support.
The school offers the International Primary Curriculum, which is an internationally minded, thematic based curriculum that encourages students to develop the ability to learn and acquire the skills needed to become life-long learners.

Alongside the IPC curriculum, ISF also runs strong international literacy and numeracy programs.
The school also offers Additional English to non-native English speakers to help them integrate faster into school life.

Cambridge assessment international education

Secondary School – Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels

Middle School 11-14 years
In Years 7-9, ISF Waterloo follows a curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, tailored to the students’ needs, for Maths, English and Science, and a modified programme in other subjects.

IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) 14-16 Years
ISF Waterloo follows the IGCSE two year programme from Cambridge and is completed with formal examinations at the end of the 2nd year, when students receive an internationally recognised set of graded certificates denoting a standardised level of formal education at secondary school.

AS and A-Level 16-18 Years
The A-Level curriculum caters for students aged 17-18, preparing them for University entrance.
A-Level is a two year course in selected subjects (normally 3-4). The A-Level students also take part in a work experience and community service programme.
