Montessori Kids School Curriculum
The school is composed of 4 classrooms grouped by age range:
One class for children aged 18 months to 3 years
- One class for children aged 3 to 6 years
- One class for children aged 6 to 9 years
- One class for children aged 9 to 12 years
Each classroom opens onto a large garden equipped as a playground and a vegetable garden for the children. This classroom structure creates a peaceful and calming educational atmosphere based on cooperation rather than competition.
Cooperation happens naturally within each class, with older children sharing their knowledge with the younger ones. In turn, the younger children follow the older or more advanced classmates with enthusiasm.
Bilingual French-English School
Montessori Kids offers bilingual French-English education. In each classroom, there are at least two Montessori teachers: one native French speaker and one native English speaker, each speaking their own language.
As a result, children are immersed throughout the day in this bilingual environment, providing each child with the opportunity to learn and explore new concepts in both English and French.
Montessori Pedagogy
The Montessori Kids School in Lasne offers education based on the Montessori approach. This educational philosophy encourages children to explore their world, make creative choices in their learning, and work both in groups and independently to discover and understand the world while developing their full potential.
This pedagogy promotes autonomy, a sense of responsibility, and the acquisition of knowledge essential for active citizenship. Additionally, Montessori classrooms are designed to meet the developmental needs of each child at every stage of life. As everything is adapted to the child’s size, the child can more easily grow mentally, intellectually, and physically in an environment of mutual respect.
Other activities offered by Montessori Kids
- Rhythm and Expression: Through music and rhythm, children learn to listen, respond, and control their neuromuscular reactions.
- Swimming: Every Wednesday afternoon, children aged 3 to 6 go by bus to the swimming pool for lessons and to learn how to swim.
- Physical Education: For 1.5 hours per week, children aged 6 to 12 participate in sports following a detailed and varied programme set by the school leadership and sports instructors.
- Psychomotor Development: Children aged 18 months to 6 years have a weekly session in a specially equipped room. These sessions allow the child to experience a range of motor and relational activities, express and manage emotions, and become aware of themselves and others.
- Theatre Approach: Organised for children aged 6 to 12. This activity fosters self-expression and self-awareness. Through imagination, each child can grow and enjoy playful verbal and non-verbal expression.
- Introduction to Visual Arts: During this course, each child is guided and supported to develop observation skills, drawing ability, and artistic sensitivity.
Why choose Montessori Kids school?
The strengths of Montessori Kids
Since 1999, this school has welcomed around one hundred children aged 18 months to 12 years, offering them an education that fosters autonomy, encourages early language acquisition, and allows them to grow in a rural environment that supports personal development.
Here are the school’s three main strengths:
Extracurricular Activities, Meals, Bus, Trips
Outside School Hours
Various educational activities are organised throughout the year: rhythmic education, swimming, physical education, theatre, visual arts introduction, and psychomotor development.
The school does not offer hot meals, so children must bring their own lunch, with the possibility of reheating it on site.
A school bus service is available every morning from 7 a.m. Return home is around 3:45 p.m. (additional fees apply).
Each year, children aged 6 to 12 have the opportunity to attend a five-day residential nature class (“classe verte”) with their teachers.
